October 7 - LCAAS Meeting
The October business meeting will start at 6:00pm with David Whitely, Chippewa Valley Astronomical Society (C.V.A.S.) to discuss observatory design. Dave is a retired Central High School astronomy teacher & planetarium director who has been involved in the construction and design of several observatories including one for the Anoka-Hennepin School District. Everyone is welcome.
The public meeting will start at 8:00pm. Paul Kinzer give a talk titled "Stargazing Basics: Getting Started in Recreational Astronomy". If the skies are clear during or after his talk, we may set up scopes outside the EcoCenter. Again, everyone is welcome.
October 8-9, 2009 - UW-L Distinguished Lecture Series in Physics
Dr. Riccardo Giacconi, 2002 Nobel Laureate in Physics, will be giving two public presentations on October 8 & 9, at UW-L for the Distinguished Lecture Series in Physics. Dr. Riccardo Giacconi is a Professor of Physics & Astronomy at Johns Hopkins University.
